Thanksgiving is coming up and that means there are some pumpkin pies that need to be baked. And since I stay at home all day, and happen to love pumpkin pie, it's up to me to bake them. So I'm working on 2 pies, one for each family. But that's just the beginning. I'm also making homemade macaroni and cheese as well as candied yams for both families. I've also baked a few dozen ginger snap cookies. Oh and then there's the peanut butter and chocolate cream pie. Mmm, glorious peanut butter.
Now, I've made all the other stuff before, so that's no big deal. But that peanut butter pie is a new experiment this year and I hope it turns out tasty. Awhile back I saw an peanut butter pie on the show Man vs. Food. He went to an Amish restaurant in Florida that was famous for pies and that one in particular stood out. I've been trying to find that exact recipe but haven't been successful. I have found tons of other recipes that range in ingredients. In the end I'm going to try out one that uses cream cheese in it. It may turn out to be more an a peanut butter chocolate cheesecake sort of pie but that also sounds heavenly so why not right?
Like most years for Thanksgiving we're gearing our stomachs up for a 2 meal day. My folks have a Thanksgiving lunch and Katie's parents do the traditional dinner. It's almost like having the same meal twice but with little variations here and there. My Mom and brother both have their birthday celebrations at Thanksgiving so we'll have cake too. Yummy! All I know is that I'll need to pace myself if I'm ever going to make it to that peanut butter and chocolate cream pie for dessert. I at least need room for one slice. That's my goal.
